Just revised the rating for this book. I honestly didn't like it, and don't understand why everyone else does. Found the plot, characters, story, just about everything completely predictable and boring. The main character, and so the narrative voice, was just so frustrating. Maybe it's just me. Anyway, skipped most of the middle section and still was able to keep up, even with all the new characters introduced. Edit: Alright, so the story itself isn't actually an original, I realise. Yes, it is based on a fairy tale, which does make it more predictable, but this was my first introduction to the story. And I only realised this after I read another interpretation of this story (Kissing the Witch by Emma Donoghue), which only, to me, emphasised how much better the book could be.
